Local residents are invited to experience an afternoon of painting led by local artist Joanne Andresen on April 27 at Paint for a Purpose, the second annual fundraiser benefiting Make It Happen for Yolo County. The local nonprofit works with under-resourced transition age youth ages 18-24 across Yolo County, many of whom have been in foster care or experienced homelessness. Funds raised will help the local nonprofit provide youth moving out on their own with furniture, household goods, cleaning supplies and essential items needed to establish a first home.
Paint for a Purpose guests will enjoy beverages, light fare and the opportunity to bid on silent auction items as they create a painting. The event will take place from 2:00-5:30 p.m. at the University Park Inn and Suites, 1111 Richards Boulevard in Davis. Cost per ticket is $60, and tables of four are available for $240. Seating is limited, so tickets should be purchased as soon as possible at www.MIHYolo.org.
“Last year’s inaugural fundraiser was wildly successful and a lot of fun, so we are excited to bring back this beloved event where we can all gather to create beautiful artwork while knowing we are investing in the future of some of our county’s most resilient youth as they begin their journey to independence,” said Cathi Schmidt, executive director, Make It Happen for Yolo County.
Paint for a Purpose sponsors include the University Park Inn and Suites, J. Lohr Vineyards and Wines, Bogle Family Vineyards, Nugget Market, Save Mart and Strelitzia Flower Company.
For more than a decade, Make It Happen for Yolo County has received furniture donations from the community and purchased new appliances and household items to help youth involved with the Yolo County child welfare, mental health and probation divisions, as well as the UC Davis Guardian Scholars program and other local nonprofits. Since its founding in 2014, Make It Happen for Yolo County has helped more than 300 transition age youth. To make a financial or furniture donation, visit www.MIHYolo.org.
